Michael Thornton is an independent security consultant who used to work for the European Commission and has worked in more than 30 countries worldwide within the framework of CBRN. He is currently supporting the United Nations within the Black Sea region.
He develops and runs table-top exercises for the Master’s courses on CBRNe at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
In parallel to this, he has designed and delivers training courses on the identification of nuclear installations using satellite imagery to military and non-military image analysts, at the European Union Satellite Centre in Spain, where he has been a lecturer since 2003.
Prior to working for the European Commission, he worked at the United Kingdom’s Atomic Weapons Research Establishment, in support of the Polaris and Trident weapon programmes.
